Oral hygiene is important in the early years to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Regular Dental check-ups with your dentist and dental therapist help to prevent and treat decay before it causes any major issues.
Children are afraid of doctor’s visit. Children should start to visit the dental practice as young as possible, so bring them along with you to your check-ups. A child’s first visit to the dentist should be enjoyable and positive. The more you and your child know about the first visit, the better you will feel. We want you to feel at ease from the moment your family arrives at our clinic. We want all of our new patients to have a fun, exciting, interesting, and educational experience at their first dental visit.
Children’s teeth begin forming before birth. As early as 4 months, the first primary (baby) teeth to erupt through the gums are the lower central incisors, followed closely by the upper central incisors. It is important that your child’s newly-erupted teeth (erupting at 6-12 months of age) receive proper dental care and benefit from proper oral hygiene habits right from the beginning. Although all 20 primary teeth usually appear by age 3, the pace and order of their eruption varies. Permanent teeth begin appearing around age 6, starting with the first molars and lower central incisors. This process continues until approximately age 21.
