Gums Treatment

Gums protect and support your pearly whites and the tissue that holds them to the bone. When your gums aren’t healthy, you risk losing those teeth — and damaging your overall health. Gum disease refers to inflammation of the soft tissue (gingiva) and abnormal loss of bone that surrounds the teeth and holds them in place. Gum disease is the second most common cause of toothache. Gum disease is caused by toxins secreted by bacteria in “plaque” that accumulate over time along the gum line. This plaque is a mixture of food, saliva, and bacteria. Bleeding gums treatment must be done as and when required to avoid any further complications.

Once a patient is diagnosed with gum (periodontal) disease, our specialists use procedures other than regular cleaning (also called prophylaxis) to treat the disease. In the early stages of gum disease, most treatment involves non-surgical procedures; however, in more advanced stages, surgical procedures are often required.
